ABOUT OMAHA THE BAT DOG
About Omaha
I’m a two year-old Golden Retriever/Flat Coated Retriever/White Swiss Shepherd mix that loves to retrieve.
Ever since my parents adopted me, they wanted me to become a Bat Dog.
Apparently when I run out to home plate and grab a baseball bat and bring it back to the dugout, people love it. I’m not sure what is the big fuss. I’m just doing what comes naturally.
How I got to where I am now
I started training to become an official bat dog in February 2024. After four months of training, I made my debut on June 9, 2024 with the Orange County Riptide.
As with anything brand new, I made a few mistakes and learned a lot. By the time the season ended, I was ready to start retrieving baseball bats for Minor League Baseball teams in Southern California.
In August and September of 2024, I have retrieved for the Lake Elsinore Storm (San Diego Padres), Inland Empire 66ers (Los Angeles Angels) and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Los Angeles Dodgers).
